CLIENT

The Minneapolis Farmers Market is a Minnesota community institution. Since it’s founding in 1876, it’s brought farmer’s and families from all accross the state to come together and enjoy the best of what Minnesota agriculture and artistry has to offer.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Minneapolis Farmers Market was looking to bring in a local team to create a new logo for their parent non-profit and to give their current logos and branding a refresh. Along with branding updates, there was also a need to make the site responsive, accessible and more functional for the community, but also for the staff that would maintain it.

We started with research and branding. The elements were all there, but just needed a modern, simplistic approach. We created a family of logos by cleaning up the 2 existing logos and creating a new one for the Central Minnesota Vegetable Growers Association.

For the site, we gave the original colors new life, but kept the overall vibe. We then organized and created content for an accessible, responsive, user-friendly site that would help the community find the information they needed about the market and it’s vendors.

WEB EXPERIENCE

With a small staff it was important that the site do more heavy lifting. We wanted to organize the information and lay out the details in such a way that it would help take some of the burden off of the staff.

With two markets, and lots of specific info for each, it was necessary to place the crucial information front and center. On the home page we made it clear with the messaging and layout that these are two markets with separate info. Within the navigation we gave each market it’s own destination page with details and FAQs.

The other piece to this site was to highlight the rich history of the markets along with it’s amazing farmers. We created an About page to tell the story of the markets and a Vendor page to showcase the variety of products the vendors have to offer.
